Avo pizza

IMG_9679.JPG

This past Sunday was one of those Sundays where Sunday kos (food) just wouldn’t do. I let my cravings guide me okay haha so pizza it was. Plus I’ve been day dreaming of using avo on a pizza. So this is just a simple thin pizza base, with some peppers, mozzarella cheese topped with avocado slices. It is really easy to make but tastes just as good as your store-bought pizza. When it comes to the toppings you can be as creative as you want its all about preference. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Dough

250 ml cake flour

5 ml instant yeast

2 ml sugar

1 ml salt

15 ml oil

100 ml water

Sauce

½ onion

100 g tomato paste

5 ml mixed herbs, dried

½ tsp crushed garlic

½ tsp paprika

Salt & pepper

Topping

250 ml mozzarella, grated

125 ml cherry tomatoes, halved

¼ green pepper, chopped

½ avocado, sliced

Salt & pepper

 Method

To make the sauce, fry the chopped onion in a small saucepan on a medium heat till softened. Add garlic, tomato paste and spices. Stir to cook. Remove from the heat and set aside.

For the crust, mix the flour, yeast, sugar and salt together, then mix the oil and water together. Add the liquid to the dry ingredients to form soft dough.

Knead well for 5-10 minutes. The dough should be smooth and elastic. Place in an oiled bowl cover and rest for 20 minutes.

While resting the dough, prepare toppings.

Set oven to 220 C. Lightly oil a rectangle baking sheet or use a pizza tile. Roll out the dough using a rolling-pin. Roll to form desired crust (I prefer a thin crust).

Spoon the sauce onto the rolled base, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle half of the cheese, peppers, tomatoes and then the rest of the cheese.(You can go a little extra with the cheese).

Bake for 10 minutes, remove from oven and add the avocado slices then bake for another 5 minutes. (May bake faster or longer depending on your oven, the sides should start to brown).

Slice and serve!
